Dear Friends, I'm Ginny Fox. Most of you have known me as a singer, a voice teacher, an opera lecturer, and for 48 years the wife of conductor Russell Fox.
Unfortunately, I now have a new moniker: Kidney Transplant Patient at Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, AZ. After fighting diabetes since 1986, I was diagnosed in 2012 with stage 4 kidney disease. While Mayo Clinic was qualifying me for a kidney transplant, they found I needed double bypass heart surgery ASAP, which happened January, 2014. The challenges were just beginning, and the medical bills had already begun to mount.
I received my new kidney in April 2015. However, it brought with it several unexpected complications, the worst of which is Epstein/Barr Virus. In people my age, EBV can morph into a cancer known as lymphoma. Test results suggest I am headed in that direction. So, Mayo Clinic started me on Rituxan immunotherapy (similar to chemo, but not as harsh) this April 8th to eliminate the EBV and, hopefully, prevent the lymphoma.
Yes, Medicare and insurance have helped, but the staggering co-payments for all these procedures and ongoing drug costs have already depleted our modest savings. Simply, we need help to get through this. We wish it weren't necessary, but with my "past due" medical bills continuing to increase, our only option left is asking directly for your financial assistance.
Thank you very much for considering my request. Russ and I are sincerely grateful for any amount you can donate to my GoFundMe Ginny’s Medical Expenses campaign.
