Help Fund Ginger’s “Warrior Woman” Battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer
After losing her husband of 35 years to a sudden heart attack, it took Ginger 4 years to find herself and find her path without her husband. Finally feeling that she was getting her life back together she found a renewed sense of joy in knowing that her husband just wanted her to live life fully and be happy. In May of 2019 she found a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with Stage 1A breast cancer. After lumpectomy surgery and 4 rounds of chemo all seemed fine with clear lymph nodes. She warrirored through the stages of nausea and the trauma of losing her hair with strength and creativity. Of course, as an interior designer, she had to have stylish head wrappings!
2020 just brought joy of daily living, helping some frail elderly friends, running errands, and every few months monitoring her own health. All was good. However, in February 2021 the checkup was suspicious and it was verified that the breast cancer was back AND had metastasized to her bones and lymph nodes – yes, Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. Her diagnosis means that she will need treatment for the rest of her life.
I, Dee Baker, her sister, am organizing this GoFundMe for her as she has chosen to fight the good fight, being the Warrior Woman she is, and utilize not only traditional protocols but also alternative treatments. She is determined to explore all options available to her and, as you may well know, many treatments are NOT covered under insurance even though there is a lot of promise in new therapies. She lives now on her widow’s social security and a few interior design projects that come her way. Minimizing stress and managing her health and quality of life are her primary focus.
Ginger has experienced a LOT these last few years with losing her husband, moving to Tennessee, and battling to find herself and her joy. But she has come a long way. I know she is strong, has a wonderful sense of humor, and amazing positivity. We need her healthy and whole so she can keep doing all that she is called here to do! Ginger has a strong faith in God and knows that this will take work in mind, body, and spirit as well as the love and support of all her friends and family. As most of us are, she doesn’t like asking for help, she would rather give to someone else, however, it’s her turn. I am asking for your help to support her. I need her too. Any amount you can give is SOOO appreciated. We will both be grateful for your generosity.
