Ginger's Ray of Hope

Anyone that has met Ginger Myers knows her by her laugh.  It fills the room, the hallway, and sometimes rooms she's not even in!  Even if you have only met her a few times or in passing, you know she is one of the most kind, positive, encouraging and giving people you have ever met. Her close friends and colleagues witness this on a daily basis as she works as a physical therapist who treats patients suffering from the worst of the worst like stroke, spinal cord injury, and brain injuries. She dedicates her life to being a shining light to anyone she meets and has dedicated her work to those who need that light the most.

Now, it’s our turn to shine our brightest lights on her.

Ginger was diagnosed with Melanoma 4 years ago in 2016. Throughout these years she has diligently followed up with the proper doctors to remove the Melanoma and treat any arising conditions as early as possible.

Earlier this year, while helping a patient at work, she injured her hip and back.  This was extremely difficult for Ginger given she is a very active and avid cyclist and runner.  When the pain did not improve with traditional treatments and seemed to become even more debilitating she sought additional medical attention.  With these facts, doctors continued to look for an answer and found a devastating one. Ginger learned that the pain was coming from a metastatic tumor growing in and around her hip joint. Her Melanoma had spread to her bone.

This diagnosis is rare given Ginger’s diligent follow through and young age.  Luckily, Ginger has responded well to treatments for the tumor.  Over the last few months through hard work and prayer she regained the ability to walk and was finally hopeful to return to work.  However, Ginger was hospitalized again due to a fever of an unknown source. After about a week doctors discovered she had a new tumor growing in her thigh muscle.

Ginger has a lot of uncertainty ahead of her with a new tumor diagnosis, ongoing medical treatment and bills and undue stress of trying to stay healthy and safe during a pandemic.  Unfortunately given the debilitating nature of these tumors she is now unable to resume her work as a physical therapist leaving her without a source of income.

Ginger is the first to help family, a friend, a co-worker and even a stranger.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and please consider contributing to this fund so we may relieve some of the financial burden she is and will face in the near future.
