Our sweet Ginger is about to turn 15 years old!

Three weeks ago, we noticed a small spot in her left eye. At first, the vet wasn’t worried—but in such a short time, it’s grown into a painful mass that now has to be surgically removed. She’s seen both her vet and an eye specialist, and the plan is to remove her eye, run x-rays, and do a biopsy to make sure the cancer hasn’t spread. Thankfully, her bloodwork came back clean, which means this surgery could give her many more happy years.

Ginger has already overcome more than most animals ever should. She spent nearly five years in a shelter after being rescued as a stray. She was so shy that everyone passed her by. When we first met her, she was stress-grooming so badly that most of her back was bald. But I knew she deserved more love than anyone.

When I brought her home, she hid underneath the bed for 4 months before she got the courage to come out and say hi. She’s now the most playful old kitty you could ever meet. She launches herself at her ball tower with fierce determination, and she tosses her favorite little white mouse high into the air before proudly pouncing on it again.

I love her with all my heart and I will do everything I can to fight for her now. Any help—whether through donations or even just sharing her story—means the world to us. Together, we can make sure Ginger gets the chance to keep living the safe, happy life she finally found. ❤️
