Ginger Moore had a Whale of a Fall Fundraiser

Donation protected
Ginger Moore, the amazing Clippership Barber and freelance whale researcher, started off October with quite a bang! A troupe of Kachemak Emergency Services personnel came to her rescue after a bad fall down the stairs catching her foot on the banister. KES whisked her off in an ambulance to the SPH emergency room. Dr. Brent Adcox met Ginger at the ER to discover her foot “on backwards” as he described it to me. Ginger’s tibia was dislocated and fibula cracked in half pushing on the skin with the upper portion of the bone hanging in space, ligaments torn, and multiple breaks at the ankle - yikes! Somehow Dr. Adcox was able to manipulate the bones back into something resembling an ankle through the skin that night without surgery with Ginger under anesthesia and plaster cast placed on it. Ginger was given strict orders to keep it elevated so swelling would go down for surgery later. Good friends gathered round to support and care for Ginger and tried to lift her spirits for her birthday on 10/4 and get her through to surgery on 10/10 when she became partially bionic with plates, screws, & cables. Now the healing begins again!
Miss Moore is a trooper, however, she has a long road to recovery ahead - no weight bearing on her right ankle (leg) for at least 8 weeks then partial weight bearing begins with physical therapy. Ginger’s lymphatic system must reconfigure itself and she will need to learn to walk again on this new reinforced appendage. Full recovery is expected to take a year.
Ginger will be unable to operate the Clippership Barbershop at full capacity likely until next year, although will still incur the expenses of owning a sole proprietor business (rental space) and renting her home.
Ginger has lived in Homer for 30 years. She worked for Rainbow Tours for 25 years and after retiring from that career she identified the need in Homer for a traditional barbershop. So, Ginger headed to Anchorage for a year to get the required credentials, then in 2019 opened Clippership Barbershop, and manifested her vision!
Any donations received will help Ginger keep her business afloat for the next 3 months until she can return to running her fun and welcoming shop!
