Hello everyone - we're delighted to introduce handsome Ginge to you all!

Tesa's Rescue was kindly asked to take in a young orange tabby - he absolutely loves people and he melts if anyone offers him any sort of attention; sadly he came into rescue in a terrible state - thin, irritated skin and open wounds all over his body due to fleas, scratching and over grooming; Ginge received medical treatment and needed to be hospitalised + closely monitored for 2 days.

Now that he has arrived in foster care, we can see his psychological scars too - he is petrified of the friendly, gentle and calm resident cat, his ears go flat on his head, he backs away trying to run and hide, he growls and gets ready to be defensive, but all in a non-threatening manner, this would sadly confirm what we already knew - that the toms hanging around his previous location fought with him. Ginge is currently in a calm, quiet foster placement and the resident cat tries his hardest to show him just how welcome he actually is in this home - he chirps, he shows his belly, he even brings him his favourite toys! ❤️

We are taking it really slow at the moment - Ginge loves his huge crate placed in the lounge where he has all the comfort he needs, he feels safe in there and every day he comes out for short sessions of supervised exploring and socialising. He sleeps a lot and eats a lot - great indication he's on the right path to healing and it is clear he appreciates the kindness he's shown. You can do it Ginge! ❤️

This is why foster homes are so important - they literally save lives and there's no rush when it comes to the length of stay for any of these wonderful souls, we have all the patience in the world for them. ❤️
