Hi, I'd like to introduce my daughter, Gina. Gina has been accepted to study this summer at the prestigious Gelsey Kirkland Academy in Brooklyn, New York. GKA is a school where they teach dancers to be artists, first and foremost. Gelsey Kirkland was a ballet superstar who danced with Balanchine at New York City Ballet, and then later joined American Ballet Theatre. She is a well loved and respected teacher, and it is a great honor for Gina to have been accepted to this program. Gina has dreams of becoming a professional dancer one day, and I believe in her! Gina is incredibly dedicated to being the best dancer she can be. People who watch her dance are amazed at how much she has improved since she started, only 3 years ago. The self discipline she has learned from studying ballet has affected all other areas of her life. Even though she is in ballet classes most afternoons, she still maintains a 3.71 grade point average in school. Summer intensives are an essential part of a young dancer's training, but they can be costly. We are asking for donations to help with tuition, housing, airfare, and dance clothing and shoes.
Here is the breakdown of costs:
tuition for three weeks: $2800
housing and meals: $2400
roundtrip airfare: $500
dancewear and shoes: $500
We are a middle class, working family living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, working to pay off student loan debt left over from my husband's nursing school days. (He's out and working, yay!) Your support would mean that our daughter would be one step closer to her dreams. We would be so grateful for any and all assistance. No donation is too small.
Peace and God bless!
