#GinasFight - Help Gina fight against her Cancer

Family and friends, I have started this fundraiser in support of my sister, Gina Capasso.

On Saturday, September 10th, Gina went into the ER with severe pain on her left side thinking she had kidney stones or a gallbladder attack. The doctor ordered a CT scan to see what they were dealing with. While waiting for radiology to read the scans, Jami arrived because they had given her a small dose of morphine to ease the pain. A few minutes later, the doctor delivered the results of the CT scan. “I have some bad news, you have stage 4 kidney cancer.. a 10.5 cm tumor is on your right kidney and has spread to your psoas and lumbar muscles”.

Gina just sat there stunned with the news. In complete shock, Jami immediately called me and I immediately got in the car to go be with them. They released her from the hospital and told her to follow up with her doctor on Monday.

The Oncologist got her in this past Wednesday the 14th. We don’t know exactly what we are dealing with yet. She has ordered a biopsy, bone scan, CT scans, brain scan, and a PET scan. Her plan is to shrink the tumor because it’s so large. We have no idea what a urologist will say in regards to the tumor and if and when she would have surgery. The Urologist the Oncologist wants her to see can not get her in until December. (And yes that’s way too long to wait) so we are at a stand still with that practice unless our oncologist can do something about getting her in sooner. She does has an appointment with a different urology practice (that’s associated with a different cancer clinic) in 2 weeks.

We are definitely going to get 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinions if needed. We will have to travel out of state to cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Chicago.

We have no idea how much time off work she will need so we need help with medical deductibles, out of pocket expenses (and those reset on Jan 1, which is right around the corner), traveling expenses, on top of everyday expenses. Gina is going to need all the help we can get/give to her. I’m humbly asking everyone and anyone to donate anything you can to help ease the pain of all these expenses Gina has coming up. You all know we/she would never ask for any help unless it was truly necessary.

We need her main focus to fight this beast with everything she has. #FCancer!
