Hi, my name is Morena (friends and family call me Yeng).
I'm writing to you today with a heavy heart but also with immense hope, to ask for your help for my dear friend, Gina Atienza.
For those who know Gina, you know her as a kind, vibrant, and incredibly hardworking person. She's a loyal friend with a warm smile who always gives her best, currently working diligently at a call center in the Philippines.
Recently, Gina's world was turned upside down when she received some devastating news. After a series of tests, she was diagnosed with a new growth in her ovary. Her doctors have warned that there is a potential risk of it being a stage 2 or 3 malignancy. This diagnosis requires immediate and aggressive medical action, including surgery and likely a challenging journey of chemotherapy.
As you can imagine, the financial burden of this fight is immense. In the Philippines, the cost of cancer treatment is astronomical. Gina has always been responsible and has managed to build up some savings through her hard work on a minimum wage salary. However, her savings are simply not enough to cover the mountain of expenses she is now facing—from major surgery to multiple rounds of chemotherapy, medications, and ongoing check-ups.
Furthermore, she will be unable to work during her treatment and recovery, which adds the stress of covering her daily living expenses to an already difficult situation.
This is where we, her community, can make a world of difference. We are launching this fundraiser to help ease Gina's financial burden so she can focus all her energy on what truly matters: fighting this illness and healing.
