My name is Gina Thomas. I'm from Evanston, IL but currently living in San Antonio, TX. I'm a single mom and an Army veteran.
I was diagnosed a year ago with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). It’s a genetic heart condition that causes thickening of the heart, which then causes heart obstructions, abnormal heart rhythms, shortness of breath and sometimes pain. I have been fortunate enough to be having heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic to improve my heart function. I have also recently within the last couple months gone through 2 eye surgeries in my right eye for glaucoma and dealing with complications after that. Due to my heart condition and eye surgeries, I have been unable to work.
On top of that, I was surprised to learn that I will be needing to move in the next few months due to my landlord selling the house we are currently renting. All of this is extremely bad timing since I will be in recovery 3-5 months from my heart surgery and unable to work or lift more than 5lbs. Due to this, I am unable to look for a new place, pack and move. My daughter, Briana, will be helping me in my recovery.
I am asking for help in funding the move and any unexpected medical expenses. The funds will be used for a moving truck, hiring movers to help pack and move (since I will be limited in how much I can physically move and lift), and a deposit for a new place. Even a little help with packing is helpful.
Any assistance you can give will be appreciated more than you will ever know!!
