Gimpy’s Story

Eleven years ago, I returned home to AZ from NJ where I attended my dad’s funeral. I had a really rough time with the fact that my dad had passed, and not much could make me smile at the time. The next evening, a cat came hobbling up to me on the street as I was getting out of my car. My first thought was great, here comes an injured cat that I’m going to have to take to the vet. Turns out he was missing half his front leg, either from an old injury or because he was born that way. I picked him up and brought him inside, and he was the goofiest, most affectionate cat I had ever met. The next day I got him scanned for a microchip and put up signs to see if anyone was missing him, but got no calls. We’ve been together ever since. I’m sure he was gift from my dad, who knew the only thing that could make me happy then was this silly little cat. Needless to say he is very special to me.

On Saturday, unfortunately the door to the garage didn’t latch so Gimpy was able to get outside and was injured. Since it’s July 4th weekend and no regular vets are open, he had to go to the ER, which is extremely expensive. He was there for 2 days and they thought he needed surgery. His numbers started improving last night so they let him go home today, but has to go to his regular vet tomorrow for a follow up and might still need surgery. I’ve applied for all the credit I can get but it’s not enough to cover the costs. If you could spare anything to help my boy, we would be eternally grateful. Any little bit helps.
