Gilmore Family Support Fund

Shawn was an amazing human who lived his life in service of others. He has left this earthly world far too soon, leaving a huge void in his family’s lives.  Shawn was the sole provider for the family and this fund is being established to ease the family’s financial burden the coming weeks and months. 

Family. Faith. Friends.  The Gilmore family embodies all three, but these words seem inadequate to fully capture the depth of love within this family and how greatly they have impacted the lives of others. 

 Shawn and Becky were high school sweethearts.  Originally from Maryland, they moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina to raise their three kids – Grace, Austin, and Gabby.  Shawn and Becky were a great team, always working together, with their kids at the forefront.  They often had to ‘divide and conquer’ in order manage all the family activities, and they made it look effortless. Not only did Shawn adore his wife and children, but he also coached lacrosse and football and was a mentor to many local kids. The stories and memories of him that those children have are priceless.

To lose a father at any age is difficult, but to lose one when you are a teenager is unbearable.  Grace will be graduating high school next year and going off to college and her dad will not be there to send her off.  Austin will be driving soon and will not have his dad there to teach him.  Gabby will not have her dad there to wipe away her tears when she is sad.  The Gilmore kids are smart, strong, loving and embody the values that Shawn and Becky have instilled in them and will carry them throughout their lives.  But it will be difficult. They have a strong community of family and friends that will be there to support them in whatever way they need.
