Gilly's House, Inc

Barbara Gillmesister speaking at the Safe Coalition Race for Recovery on May 7, 2017  in Franklin, Massachusetts.

Gilly's House is established in memory of Steven Gillmeister, Gilly who passed away from a herion overdose October 24, 2016 at the age of 25.
Gilly had a big smile and even bigger heart, and those who were close to him knew of his ability to light up a room and make friends where ever he went.  He was always joking and laughing and could make you laugh no matter what kind of day you were having. He would make up songs to cheer you up if you were having a bad day, and would drop anything to help somone in need.

Gilly loved people unconditionally. He had hundreds of friends literally around the world, from California to Israel and Maine. He touched the lives of countless people.

Gilly began using drugs first as a social user but later became addicted to opiates and heroin, which led to a long life of detox, recovery, rehab, sober living and relapse. Even during his struggle, Gilly was actively helping other addicts find ways to turn their lives around.  He had a passsion for helping others.

Steven had the most sucess and comfort living in a sober home. With Gilly's House we hope to carry out his legacy and continue to help those in need.

Gilly's House will be located in Wrentham, MA. It  will be a residential program for young men who are struggling with addiction, have begun their recovery and want to continue their commitment. Gilly's House will be opening in early 2018,

Gilly's House will offer a stable structured, supportive and safe enviroment to achieve personal goals while attaining the transitional life skills necesary to reintegrate into the community life. Caring for the needs of each indivudual, Gilly's House will collaboratively work with each young man to develop personal goals and achieve success.

This fall we hope to begin building renovations. Funds raised will be used towards building renovations,  acquiring furniture, appliances, home necessities and a vehicle so we can open the doors.  Gilly's house  also welcomes tangible donations and volunteers who can help with renovations.
