Gillian's Medical Fund
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is to support my aunt Gillian Gomez Balasia and her family in their time of need.
Gillian recently went into a coma after suffering two massive strokes due to an undiagnosed Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APML). Gillian is a mother of two, a wife, sister, daughter, and a friend to many. She is very loved and cherished in this world.
The funds raised here will aid in Gillian's hospital bills.
Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. Thank you, and God bless!
*Funds will be withdrawn into a U.S. bank account in my name, Liza Monica Gomez, and will be transferred to my aunt's account in the Philippines via a money transfer platform such as Xoom.
**A little goes a long way. Since Gillian is located in the Philippines, only a few US dollars would be a great contribution. (1 USD = 49.69 PHP)
Testimonial from loved ones:
You are a woman of strength, community, dignity. To me, you epitomize the idea of love, represent courage, and are a symbol of hope. You are incredibly selfless and never put yourself above others. You have fought through years of suffering the stealthy disease of leukemia to live for your children, your husband, your brothers and sister, your mother, and you have fought for me when nobody would. Tita Gie, you shall forever be remembered as a woman who could provide unconditional love without expecting anything in return. Throughout the duration of your battle with this hidden disease, you have been and will continue to be surrounded by love.
I remember the first day I landed in the Philippines, amid the sweltering Philippine heat in May of 2014, you gave me the biggest hug. I had never met you, except through a handful of pictures and video chats. In fact my earliest memory is when Ivan was born and you asked me to be one of his Godfathers. I accepted without hesitation, because I knew one day you may need me. On the day I met you I knew I had made the right decision because immediately you made me feel so loved.
I write this in tears because I believe in you the way you believed in me. One of the last things you made me promise occurred a week ago via chat. You made me promise I would work hard no matter what and continue down this path I created for myself, and that you would be happy as long as I succeeded. You have shared so many invaluable experiences and stories that will guide me through the rest of my life. You’ve taught me to fight no matter what and I will forever keep your words in my memories.
We will continue to pray, we will continue to fight, we will continue to hope.
Thank you po. Maraming maraming salamat sa yo. I owe you my life, for when I fell, you picked me back up and pushed me forward with a new sense of purpose. Forever will I thank you.
