Mr. Gillan is a math teacher at Waterloo High School. He is an amazing person and very outgoing.  He is very dedicated to his wife and three gorgeous daughters and is always cracking jokes.


Just about 12 years ago Russ was originally diagnosed with a large AVM in his brain after he had his first seizure.   Early in the morning on Monday May 1st, this AVM ruptured and bleed into his brain. He was transferred to RGH where he is currently in the SICU. They were unable to repair the bleed at that time, so they are trying to allow it to heal on its own. In order to do this, he has been placed on a ventilator, is being sedated, and has a drain in his head to relieve the pressure from the blood. They are controlling his BP and heart rate to keep the bleeding to a minimum.

There is a team of several doctors from across the state that have jumped on his unusual case with hopes to come up with a plan. Currently they are still working on that, but they are expecting to do the first of possibly several surgeries in approximately 6-10 weeks.

The funds raised will help his family with traveling expenses and any other costs that are not covered by insurance.
