Gilbert, 49, is a husband, father of three, and a loving brother in law who persevered through many of life’s battles. He has always been self-sufficient since he was 18. He had never taken a sick or personal day in his entire career. His work ethic has been driven to provide happiness to all that surround him. If you ever had the chance to meet and know Gil, you would know how selfless he is and how he never once thinks of himself. He has always been one we would all call on for anything. Like a computer, he has been one to dissect an issue to solve problems and provide answers to those who inquire in his specialty and everlasting knowledge and kindness. He finds purpose in helping others and seeing others happy.
Unlike a computer, he has been able to push through an overload of duties without shutting down, until recently… His health has compromised his ability to perform everyday tasks we can all take for granted like standing up, walking on his own and do what he loves to do which is work and help others. He’s survived an “Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Stroke” which has impaired his vision and stability.
He spent the Thanksgiving holiday in the ICU with nurses closely monitoring his condition and was sent home a few days later.
Even though his health is on pause the daily costs of living are not. He has been the sole provider of his household and the bills, including medical, have been piling up. He has been denied the right to receive Disability Benefits and there is no income coming into the house. Family and friends have pitched in to make the past month’s rent and other bills but unfortunately that isn’t enough. Time is ticking and his condition has not improved. Sitting on the sofa and lying in bed has been challenging for him since he has worked almost every day in his adult life and has been the one to take care of his family. Because of his imbalance and impairment of vision he has fractured his toe while attempting to get back on his feet. He has a strong desire to return to work but his condition does not allow him to. Doctors are not sure if he will ever be 100% better.
Gilbert has never asked for anything, even creating this page was difficult for him to agree to. It is our only option and our last hope to help make ends meet for his medical bills, medication, and for bills including rent until his health allows him to return to work. Gilbert needs to use all of his energy and focus on getting back on his feet. Help us as we try to relieve some financial stress and worry off of his mind.
Please share this with everyone, every penny does count and we are thankful for it all. God bless and please keep Gilbert and his family in your prayers.
