Gilberto Ferreras

Hi, our names are Anny and Dayvis and we are the daughter and the son of Gilberto.

In the early morning of Saturday, February 10th, my sister and I were devastated and shocked by the death of our dad. He was a caring and loving father to us. He came to this country as a young man from the Dominican Republic in the early ‘70s and made a great living working as a butcher, an occupation he held for nearly 50 years. Although we were born in Santo Domingo, we grew up in the Bronx, where his American Dream began. He was always a great provider and did everything he could in order for us to have a much better life. Like the hit song, “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, despite doing things his “…Way”, he taught us the values of hardship, responsibility and an understanding of what the real world is like. We carry these lessons with us to this day.

He spent the rest of his life surrounded by family, especially with his beloved grandson, Lorenzo.

The proceeds of this GoFundMe will go towards funeral expenses and providing him with a dignified final resting place.
