Support the family of Gilbert Barnedo

As we all face a global health threat due to this pandemic.  I regret to share the news of our dear friend's passing.  He has succumbed to the ill effects of this dreadful disease on 11th of April 2020.  He was only 48 years old with still so much life in him and it pains us that he was taken away from us in an unexpected way.  He is being survived by his wife and two young daughters.

Gilbert is known to be suffering from Multiple Sclerosis but has been stable for so many years however, recently he was blue lighted to the hospital for suffering with bilateral pneumonia and was later found out that he contracted COVID-19 which may have been the main cause of his rapid deterioration.  He has fought very hard for many days, but eventually, his frail body was not able to take the disease full on.  Shortly, he died of respiratory arrest.

News of the death across the globe daily has overwhelmed us more than we can imagine.  Like anyone, who has lost a family member to this awful disease, Gilbert will never have a proper funeral ceremony he greatly deserves.  His loved ones, most especially his family and closest friends will not be able to pay their final respect to him, but we believe that he is already at peace with the Almighty God.

Gilbert was born in Pasacao Camarines Sur, Philippines and trained as a nurse.  He immigrated to the United Kingdom and worked in nursing homes in later life.  He dedicated his life to the care and support of others.

Despite being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and suffering with a symptoms of this condition, he loved his job and was very committed to his patients and colleagues.

A true gentleman, a devoted husband and a loving father.  Gilbert had an amazing sense of humour and could always make others smile.  He was sincere, selfless and a friend to all, never complaining about the illness he was suffering with.

"Gilbert  - you have been our greatest source of inspiration and courage.  There are not enough words to express our loss and do justice to your wonderful attributes".

Many friends and colleagues have expressed a wish to help his wife and two young daughters financially at this difficult time.  Whilst we appreciated how difficult it is to ask for help at this time, we have set up this GoFundMe page as a way of providing any assistance to his family at this devastating time.

Your generosity is much appreciated; any donation large or small will be cherished by the family.
