Gilb & Family Road to Recovery
Donation protected
We have created this fundraiser on behalf of Frankie, Gilb's mom. As you may know, on 8/26/23 Gilb was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. After having an emergency procedure to stop the internal bleeding and stabilizing his vital signs, he was transferred to the Trauma-Neuro Intensive Care Unit.
He suffered life threatening injuries- traumatic brain injuries, multiple spinal fractures, collapsed lungs, injuries to his spleen, liver, kidneys and bladder. He also has multiple facial fractures, pelvic and hip fractures, rib fractures and multiple lacerations throughout his body. He was under a Medically Induced Coma for several days to allow his brain some healing time and reduce the swelling. He was able to have surgery to start repairing his pelvis and hip, but this is just one of many surgeries to come. He is now under deep sedation with some "awake breaks", until he is able to have his next surgery which would be to his spine.
It has now been 16 days since Gilb had the accident. Like any caring mother, Frankie has not left his side. Gilb's team of doctors' are very optimistic on the outcome of his recovery, but it will be a very long and difficult road. He is expected to remain in the Trauma-Neuro ICU for another 4 to 6 weeks, before he is transferred to the Neuro Unit. At this point Frankie has used all of her paid time off (PTO) from work and is on an unpaid Family Medical Leave (FMLA). This means she will now need to pay for the Health Insurance Premium out of pocket in order to keep insurance coverage, which includes Gilb's insurance. For this reason we are kindly asking for your donations. This will help cover Health Insurance Premium, mortgage, utility bills, and other life expenses that she can't simply put on hold in order to remain at Gilb's side to comfort and support him while he continues to recover.
We are humbled and so thankful for the outpouring of love, prayers, calls, messages the family has received. It takes a village, and we definitely have a great one behind us!
No donation amount is too small and every share with family and friends is appreciated just as much!
PLEASE DON'T STOP PRAYING!
