In the Summer of 2014, before she was to go back to work in August, Danielle started to feel sick. She went to the doctor thinking she might have some kind of infection that could be treated simply with an antibiotic. After many tests and a few weeks Danielle and her Family got the devastating news that she had stage four lung cancer. This diagnosis was very devastating to her, and her Family and Friends.
After Danielle's diagnosis she started radiation treatment for a short time before she was accepted into the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston where she would be able to be part of a new Gene Therapy trial. In this trial if Danielle tested positive for the ROS-1 Gene Mutation she would have a possibility of extending her life for years. Which is excellent news but very costly. The treatment is very expensive, plus she has to travel from Boise, Idaho to Boston every 6 weeks to be checked by the doctors to make sure the treatment is working.
Danielle appreciates everyone that has helped her and her Family during this difficult time. Every little bit helps relieve the stress that can be so debilitating to Danielle's recovery.
