Gigs Fundraising for Red Cross Aid to Gaza

I am Aaron Murphy, I'm a musician from Co.Wicklow, Ireland. I've been horrified at the horrific genocidal campaign conducted against Palestinians for the past 80 years and the recent, well publicised increase in violence. I think the increased media coverage of it is only because the state of Israel calculates that it is safe to be as brutal and brazen in doing so now and that no one will attend against them. This has been largely true at a political level, certainly in Europe.

To fundraise for aid relief I have teamed up with my father, Liam to play some gigs with all proceeds going to the relief effort. I wanted to fundraise directly for the Palestinian Red Crescent but have found it difficult to get a platform that is widely accessible and would allow me to do so while tracking donation amounts. The previous fundraiser gig that we did together we used cash donations and send reported online donations and raised over €1000 for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. The Palestinian Red Crescent links to the Irish Red Cross on its website as a partner and the Irish Red Cross clearly shows the genocide campaign in Gaza as it's beneficiary of donations so that is who we will donate to.

I've always felt that the greatest good you can do in the world is in the ground around your own feet but sometimes things are so horrific elsewhere that you have to try.

Liam and Aaron Murphy, a father son duo from Co.Wicklow, will play a 3 gigs of classic covers (everything from the Beatles, to Tom Waits, to Jackson Browne, to Rory Gallagher) on Friday 12th July (Newtown Mt Kennedy Inn), Friday 26th July (The Old Punchbowl, Booterstown) and Saturday 3rd August (Enniskerry Schoolhouse of Art), and all proceeds will go towards the the Irish Red Cross who are partnered with the Palestinian Red Crescent in providing aid to Palestine. This money will assist with their vital works providing aid and relief in Gaza to help the people on the ground who are effected by Israel's genocidal campaign there.
