Gigmor was founded by musicians to help independent artists and bands find gigs. Playing live is an important source of income for many musicians and our goal is to help them get booked at clubs, restaurants and private events. To date, 65,000 artists and 2,500 venues have joined Gigmor. We’ve worked with iconic venues like the Viper Room, Whisky-A- Go-Go, The Mint and many others.
As you know, since mid-March live music has been on pause. Independent musicians have lost the ability to earn critical income by playing live. Even with some states reopening, the future of live gigs is uncertain in the near future.
Pre-Covid
At the beginning of 2020, we were firing on all cylinders. We had a committed, passionate team, we were growing 25% per month, we had partnerships with American Idol and SoundCloud and a growing list of potential investors was following our progress.
We were close to announcing the launch of a one click booking platform that was going to be a game changer for venues and artists. That all changed overnight when live music ground to a halt.
Post-Covid
Within days, we quickly pivoted and launched a Gigmor Live channel on Twitch and since then have produced 26 shows in 9 weeks, helping artists earn over $2,500 in tips. 100% of the tips and donations go to the musicians. The response from artists has been amazing and they haven’t been shy in expressing their gratitude. We have expanded the channel and are now streaming on YouTube, Facebook and Twitch simultaneously, helping artists reach an even wider audience.
Why We Need Your Support
We are struggling to pay our employees and to stay alive as a company. We need your help to keep going and to keep supporting our artists. We are severely short staffed and only able to produce one stream per week.
Live Streaming is Part of Our Future
What we’ve done is a great start. But our goal is to build a live streaming channel that will be a viable option for artists forever. Our vision is to stream 5 or 6 days a week with multiple artists every day in a channel that transcends the limitations of physical space, geography and time zones.
Here's why we’re asking for your support:
Hire Live Streaming Staff
Our goal is to grow Gigmor Live into a full-fledged virtual venue streaming 6 days a week in a channel that transcends the limitations of physical space, geography and time zones. We need to hire staff to help vet and book artists, manage sound checks and performances, and promote the shows.
Marketing
Until March we had an efficient digital marketing plan in place. We suspended it to save money but need to ramp it up to spread the word to musicians and venues everywhere. As clubs slowly reopen, we need to raise awareness of our one-click booking solution which we launched during the coronavirus crisis.
Technology
We need to pay our development team: our CTO and 2 engineers. Without them we won’t be able to implement the long list of enhancements that will increase our value to venues and artists. In addition, we need to pay AWS hosting and various other technology-related costs.
We have raised some angel money but the bulk of the investment is from our founders who have been steadfast in their vision to build a global platform that helps independent artists find gigs and promote their shows. And, for now, any new potential investors are on the sidelines.
Your donation will help us pay our staff and allow Gigmor to continue operations so we can be there for our artists and the live music community when live music comes back.
