Gigi and Ken Ames Need Your Help!
On May 03 2018 the Kilauea Volcano started roaring on the Big Island of Hawaii. A series of huge earthquakes hit the area the residents knew something was brewing. Gigi and Ken Ames' home was in big danger.
Gigi had just left Hawaii to attend to a family emergency on the mainland. Her husband Ken and son, Danny were in Hawaii. Soon fissures began opening up around their home and a sea of lava started flowing- blocking access to roads and swallowing up homes. Ken and Danny were given short notice to evacuate and fled their home taking only their dogs, a few clothes and their most important documents. Ken ended up relocating 3 times in the first 10 days with people he had never met.
No one could have been prepared for the devastation that followed and even now, three weeks later, continues. To date over 82 homes have been lost and more are being evacuated. It is very possible that the entire Leilani Estates will be under the lava.
The Ames lost their home and everything inside... furniture, clothing, a lifetime of memories and everything else. What is even more devastating was that Ken built this home with his own hands and they had paid for all with cash.. over $280,000. The land itself has 0 value since it is under 20 feet of lava. Adding more pain to the misery is that Ken lost all his building tools as well.
Lava damage is specifically excluded from insurance.. so they have nothing. The picture below is all that is left... Ken's prized lawnmower..
Gigi and her family are givers. They were missionaries in Uganda for over 8 years where they were there to help. It was not an easy task and the obstacles were huge... but they stayed and helped where they could and became "foster" parents to some of the children who consider Gigi and Ken their parents..
I met Gigi over three years ago where we were volunteers. I can easily attest that she is one of the most caring and loving people I know. She is always there to help people.. whether they ask or not.
We are both in the online space and she has worked hard and long and has become successful with this and has always been there for others to ensure that they are successful as well.
Everyone needs help at one time or another in life and now Gigi and her family need our help.
They have no home, no furniture, no kitchen utensils, no beds, no basic essentials.. nothing to start over with.
Imagine yourself in the same situation.
I have started this gofundme campaign to ask people such as you to donate whatever you can so that they can start rebuilding their life.
