Gigi, our friend Jessica's beloved pup and proud co-winner of the Friendliest Neighbor award in the 2024 Oakland Lake Merritt Dog Contest, is in urgent need of veterinary care. She’s more than just a friendly face in the neighborhood—she’s a joyful, gentle soul who’s brought smiles to countless people and pups alike. Unfortunately, Gigi has had a very hard year. She fell and broke her foot in February, which took months to heal, and now is facing a serious medical issue that requires immediate treatment. She appears to have had a major seizure and is having difficulty with walking, and the neurologist believes that her symptoms may be the result of a possible issue with her brain (stroke, disease, etc.)--her care team at SAGE* in Concord is trying to figure out the root cause and a treatment plan. She's getting an MRI and the vet bills are more than her family can manage alone. We’re reaching out to ask for your help—any donation, big or small, will go directly toward getting Gigi the care she needs. Though she has medical insurance, the medical costs are piling higher and more than her insurance can cover.
