Help us save Gigi’s life
Donation protected
Friends, I know that now more than ever we are all stretched, strained, and tired. Despite this, we come to you begging for help, for prayers, for your empathy and generosity. Just a week ago my Leeloo had a $5,100 splenectomy that saved her life- and then she was abruptly diagnosed with hemangioma sarcoma and given three to twelve months to live. And now her twin sister Gigi, my mothers dog, is facing the same life saving surgery. My mother is 64 and Gigi is not just her pet but her companion and best friend after losing her brother and father to Covid. Leeloo & Gigi are family. And We cant know if its more cancer until after the surgery. Three to twelve months might not seem like much, but to us every hour is priceless. Hours where they are free of pain and get to sniff the sunshine and clean garden air. What is the price of one more day with someone you love? Profit margins tell me that price is currently five thousand dollars. And, If the unspeakable should happen, as it often does, these funds will go towards a compassionate end- at home euthanasia. Which, like all things within capitalism, comes with a hefty price tag. Any leftover funds will be donated to Santa fe Animal Shelter. We have to move quickly though, Gigi’s surgery is Wednesday. From the bottom of my broken heart, thank you for reading and donating. At Upaya Zen Center we used to end each day with the sung prayer “Let me respectfully remind you, Life and Death are of supreme importance, time passes quickly and opportunity is lost. Do not squander your life.”
All we can do is try.
Thank you, Ashira, Elena, Leeloo & Gigi
