We are the Villaflors and we are a cancer family. Our son, Aivyn, was diagnosed with ALL PH+ (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Philadelphia Chromosome Positive) with the presence of Monosomy 7 on April 7th, 2014. He was only 2 1/2 years old. In 2016, we started our #teamugotnothingonus Toy Drive and it has since become our Gift Card Drive to give to, not only the patients, but to their families.
We donate every year to BC Children's Hospital's Oncology / Hematology Ward because that was our second home for years during treatment. Our daughter, Avaiyah, actually suggested that we donate to BCCH and that's how we started. She was just a month short of turning 4 when her brother became sick and since she "grew up" living the cancer life, she always donated her toys to the ward's playroom or the hospital. That's why we have been doing this!
Because of what is going on in the world today, we wanted to give to those at BC Children's Hospital Oncology / Hematology Ward and if we raise enough, Children's Hospital Oncology in Winnipeg!
We are hoping to receive donations to send over meals to patients and their families during this difficult time. And if this become HUGE, gift cards will be given, just like our Gift Card drive we hold every Christmas!
