Gift of Life for Dustin Taylors Liver Transplant

It’s was Valentine’s Day 2007 when my brother; Dustin and I signed the paperwork to donate our mothers internal organs after she suffered a brain aneurysm. Later that evening her Liver was the first organ that was placed in another to give them a new life.

At that time, little did we know that one of us would end up being on the receiving side of Organ Donation.

Fast Forward 15 years to
November 24, 2021:
Our Brother, Dustin is currently in Dire Need of a Liver Transplant. He is too sick for a lobe donation.  He needs a whole functional liver.
Dustin has been under the care of the Transplant Specialists at Dallas Methodist in Dallas, Texas. He has been hospitalized since mid October. The doctors and care received have been nothing short of amazing. However, Dustin’s condition has rapidly declined.
The series of hourly tests and results have come fast and the news often comes heavy with each day becoming more and more critical.
Last week, the doctors delivered the very tough news that Dustin will not make it out of the hospital without the gift of a new liver.

After 4 very long days of tests Dustin was officially “Listed” today and is now on the National Organ List waiting to receive the Ultimate Gift of Life.

My heart is in turmoil as I try to find the words and the meaning in all of this. My prayers are complicated.
It doesn’t seem right that the very thing we are praying to receive is the very thing others pray to never have to give.

I am thankful for a God that knows our hearts when our words fail to come. I am thankful for a God that gives us his promise of Peace.
Although, We cannot see what is ahead, we are trusting that the Lord is already there.
We are confident the Lord will heal Dustin’s body.

We are also confident that the Lord will meet the financial needs that come along with this type of journey.
With long health battles come large medical expenses. Doctors have said that Dustin will have a long recovery before he is healthy enough to go back to his regular work duties. Yet, Surgeries, Treatments and Medicines are very expensive.
Under the guidance of the hospital we have been encouraged to set up a Fundraising Account to help ease the current and upcoming Financial Burden.

In this season of giving… please remember Dustin…. With your prayers and if able your charity.

I thank you all from the depths of my heart,
Stacia (Dustin’s twin sister) and Many Family members.

May he find comfort in your ability God, to reach him, hold him and rescue him. (2 Samuel 22 17-18)
