Gift of hearing for Jayce

Jayce (3.5 yrs old) was diagnosed with hydrocephalus during his 20 week anatomy scan. The doctor said that we need to make a quick decision because he's probably going to have a very grim life and be severely handicap due to significant brain injuries and malformation. Jayce has no genetic conditions just a different plan of God's. Through a lot of fear and anxiety we ultimately knew this is God's plan and we are not in control. This wasn't our choice to make. Jayce was born and against all odds he's an absolute miracle. Everyone who meets him sees his light! No matter the multiple brain surgeries and other surgeries he's endured he brings a special light and hope to this world. With much support and therapy he is excelling roughly 10 months behind his peers due to his physical hurdles. Jayce has been on a journey and the next chapter is unfolding. We recently received results that his hearing is progressively getting worse due to hearing loss caused by an inner ear condition called EVA. We always knew this was a possibility with this condition so we always have supplemented with Signing Time (children sign language program). He's pretty good I must say! This loss of hearing prevents him from hearing the beginning and end sounds of words. You could imagine what impact that has on someone trying to learn to talk. To get him the support needed to improve his language development his neurologist has suggested an FM system. It's basically his own radio frequency that connnects to his hearing aids and the lead teacher (or his Mom) will have a transmitter acting as a microphone that will directly feed to his hearing aid so the surrounding sounds and his friends talking don't drown out the speakers words. Unfortunately this system is not covered by insurance because it is considered an "extra". The cost of the FM system for him to have at school, daycare and at home are relatively expensive and we're looking for any support to help Jayce with the gift of hearing and speech.
