Hi I'm Rowella, the aunt of Ethan Raphael Gatapia Bernardo who is in the Philippines.

Baby Ethan is the son of Kirstan Bernardo & Janine Gatapia- Bernardo. He was born on September 10 ,2022 via emergency cesarean section due to oligohydramnios (too little amniotic fluid). He was only 27 weeks then. He weighs 1.004kg. He was initially intubated for 2 weeks to support his premature lungs, He was also given a surfactant & other medications to help his lungs to mature.

He Stayed in the NICU upon birth until December 2022. He was discharged with feeding tube & he needs to be on oxygen all the time.

Last February 2 2023, his oxygen saturation dropped and he was brought to the hospital. He had pneumonia. He was intubated again and until now he is still admitted In the PICU for further treatment and for antibiotics.

He was discharged last April 21, 2023 with overwhelming hospital bill & professional fees during his hospital stay for almost 3 months.

April 29,2023

Baby Ethan is back to the hospital. He is intubated again because of low oxygen.

May 9,2023

He was transferred to the regular room for the completion of his antibiotics and for monitoring.

May 15, 2023

His oxygen level dropped again for unknown reason.

He was intubated again and sent back to PICU.

The doctors are planning to do the following

- BARIUM TEST- to check if he have trache esophageal fistula abnormal connection in one or more places between the esophagus (the tube that leads from the throat to the stomach) and the trachea (the tube that leads from the throat to the windpipe and lungs).

- TRACHEOSTOMY INSERTION- for airway passage. He was intubated for several times and this might cause some damages in his throat and airway.

-PEG INSERTION -A PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) feeding tube insertion is the placement of a feeding tube through the skin and the stomach wall. Temporary passage for his feeding/milk.

Our little fighter was brought back to the hospital before 2023 ends.

He is currently in PCMC (Philippine Children's medical center), PICU

He is being treated for electrolytes imbalance.
