Gift an iPad to Aid Tanga's Health Heroes
Donation protected
This semester, my colleague Clare and I are completing a field study at the National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanga, Tanzania under the guidance of Dr. John Lusingu. We are overwhelmed with the compassion, generosity, and intellectual capacity of the workers here at the facility and admire their commitment to addressing critical health issues in their region. As it stands, the research institution (and the region more generally) lack access and affordability for key technological tools that can assist the every day functions of research that we often take for granted in America. For example, The Institute currently only possess one iPad, which was a gift from another development agency which assists the hospital and research center. They have expressed immense gratitude for this and treat it “like an egg,” as they have said. Our professor, Dr. John Lusingu, has expressed his wish to be able to obtain another iPad at NIMR to assist with research functions, expediting research for lifesaving medical care in Tanga.
It would mean the world to us to be able to surprise him and the wonderful workers at NIMR with this gift, which is so accessible in America but few and far between in this region. We believe they would be immensely grateful for this contribution, as would Clare and I.
We appreciate any amount you can afford to donate toward this procurement and hope you know how much of an impact something so small will make for this community in Tanzania. Asante sana (thank you!).
