Gibraltar support Ukrainian refugees in Romania
Donation protected
Dear Gibraltarians, frontier workers and visitors,
As we all know, last week, Vladimir Putin’s regime started an unprovoked and unjustified war against the government and the European will of the Ukrainian people. During these days, we witnessed from our comfort zone the horror and the drama of the Ukrainian citizen. More than 1.000.000 Ukrainians have been displaced already to countries like Poland, Hungary and Romania.
In Romania, until now, more than 120.000 refugees crossed the northern and eastern borders of the country. More than 40.000 people remained in Romania. Fortunately, they were welcomed with open arms by their neighbors. The Ukrainian citizens received free food, free care and free shelter by simple people, NGOs, monasteries, hotels and local administrations. Unfortunately, everything of these has a cost and since we are expecting a long war and more refugees, more funds are required.
Therefore, Netgear Gibraltar is starting today a crowdfunding campaign for the refugees who crossed the border in Romania. At the recommendation of our colleague, Adrian, we decided to support the efforts of Ștefan Mandachi. Ștefan, a well-known figure in Romania, is a 36 old Romanian businessman and lawyer. He’s the owner of a fast-food chain and of an appreciated hotel in northern Romania, in Suceava, a city close to the Ukrainian border. In 2019, he started a charity foundation in memory of his late mother Jeni, after which he helped lots of people and abandoned pets, too. Thanks to Ștefan and his charity foundation, 107 water wells have been built in Africa, in countries like Uganda, Mali or Tanzania.
Short after the first refugees have arrived in northern Romania, he organized a team of volunteers. He announced that his hotel is offering free hosting, free meal for refugees from Ukraine. For more details, you can follow his Facebook account here: https://www.facebook.com/stefanvalentinmandachi
Finally, Netgear Gibraltar is donating £1000 to Ștefan’s charity account and we invite you all to help as many people and pets as possible. In the name of the Ukrainian people, thank you...
