Gibbons in Need of Sanctuary
Donation protected
Thirty years ago, a White-Handed Gibbon was poached in the wild, leaving behind a baby who became a family pet. Born to swing from tree to tree, howling through the forest to others of her kind, Fun-O grew up as a house pet until the age 10 when she became too aggressive to be loose around people.
She was locked inside a small enclosure with no foliage, hiding places, or enrichment.
Out of concern for her welfare, Fun-O's owner sought out a male gibbon, named Oreo, to keep her company.
These beautiful beings have been locked in a small, broken enclosure in front of a deserted restaurant for two decades.
Visitors taunt, tease, and torture the gibbons - they can not hide or escape. They are stressed, bored, and terrified of crowds.
It is time to cut the rusted padlock and relocate Fun-O and Oreo to Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary - BLES. After successfully rescuing, two Macaque monkeys, earlier in the year, BLES is prepared to welcome these two to the ever-growing sanctuary family.
Living at the sanctuary means they will never be surrounded by boisterous groups of tourists ever again - they will have peace, they will have safety, they will have sanctuary.
I know that if we, a global community of animal lovers, come together and give what we can, we can collectively apologize to these two souls for all the wrong that has been done to them.
Before beginning on Fun-O and Oreo's dream enclosure, we need to raise the funds to pay for construction and relocation costs.
Please donate what you can to giving these gibbons a new life - the life they deserve.
You can read Fun-O and Oreo's full story by following the link to a blog I have written.
