Gia’s Lymphoma Fight
Donation protected
My name is Madison and my 16 year old sister, Gia, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I’ve started this page to tell you a little bit about what’s happening. After simultaneously the longest and quickest week of our lives the doctors at Danafarber decided an aggressive chemotherapy regimen would be the best route to take. My sister Gia is one of the most genuine and sweetest souls you’ll meet. She loves spending time with family and being an aunty to our 4 year old nephew Ayson.
Two weeks ago my sister went to the walk in complaining of shortness of breath. Since then, Gia has undergone a series of scans, biopsies, and surgeries. On December 21st, the doctors confirmed that Gia has stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
On Monday the 27th, Gia will start the first of her chemotherapy treatments, which will continue for 6 months. This aggressive treatment strategy has not given our family much time to come to terms with what is happening, nor to plan out how the next 6 months will work and unfortunately, my mother Erin, will have to quit both of her jobs in order to bring Gia to and from her appointments in Boston.
First and foremost, your thoughts and prayers will be most appreciated. Whether you are able to financially contribute or only able to share this page in an effort to reach more people, my family greatly appreciates it. Please feel free to reach out if you know of any resources available, or have experience with family members undergoing treatment in the Boston area.
