Over the course of a few days, my little cousin had been experiencing weakness at his knees, rashes on his skin and high fevers that would not go away. The first time he was noticed with a high fever, he got tested for COVID-19, but the results came back negative. He suffered rashes and bruises on his skin, as well as painful sores in his mouth. My uncle and his wife rushed him to the hospital out of pure fear and worry. After running a bunch of tests, he was detected with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  ALL is set in stages such as B-cell and T-cell, and he currently has B-cell because the disease is in his bone marrow and other organs, as commonly occurred with ALL. He is going to be staying in the hospital for a month while he undergoes chemotherapy and will be receiving treatment for 2 years. His motors skills are more than likely to lose function and will have to receive physical therapy. 


My little cousin, Giancarlo or Gianni, is 4 years old and full of life. He is a very cheerful and intelligent little boy; who loves to play baseball and play with his older brother and sister. He was as healthy as any other 4 year old, but right now he lays in a hospital bed, weak from chemotherapy and medication he has to take for the aforementioned bone cancer. But even through this, he continues to fight for his life. 


Your donation, however much it is, will help Gianni and his family with all the treatments he needs. We are all living through tough times now, and my uncle has remained as the only source of income for the family. As many know these treatments and hospital bills are highly expensive. And if you are unable to donate, we would appreciate it if you kept him in your thoughts and prayers. We would have never imagined something like this happening to him, who has only begun his life. En el transcurso de unos días, mi primo había experimentado debilidad en las rodillas, erupciones en la piel y fiebres altas que no desaparecían. La primera vez que lo notaron con fiebre alta, se hizo una prueba de COVID-19, pero los resultados fueron negativos. Sufrió erupciones y moretones en la piel, así como dolorosas llagas en la boca. Mi tío y su esposa lo llevaron al hospital por puro miedo y preocupación. Después de realizar varias pruebas, se le detectó Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda. La LLA se establece en etapas como las de células B y T, y actualmente tiene células B porque la enfermedad se encuentra en la médula ósea y otros órganos, como ocurre comúnmente con la LLA. Va a permanecer en el hospital durante un mes mientras se somete a quimioterapia y recibirá tratamiento durante 2 años. Es más probable que sus habilidades motoras pierdan su función y tendrá que recibir fisioterapia.


Mi primo pequeño, Giancarlo o Gianni, tiene 4 años y está lleno de vida. Es un niño muy alegre e inteligente; a quien le encanta jugar béisbol y jugar con su hermano y hermana mayores. Estaba tan sano como cualquier otro niño de 4 años, pero ahora mismo está en una cama de hospital, débil por la quimioterapia y los medicamentos que tiene que tomar para el cáncer de huesos antes mencionado. Pero incluso a través de esto, continúa luchando por su vida.


Su donación, por mucho que sea, ayudará a Gianni y su familia con todos los tratamientos que necesita. Todos estamos viviendo tiempos difíciles ahora, y mi tío se ha mantenido como la única fuente de ingresos para la familia. Como muchos saben, estos tratamientos y las facturas del hospital son muy costosos. Y si no puede donar, le agradeceríamos que lo mantuviera en sus pensamientos y oraciones.
