Gianna and JT Senior Project: Old Adobe Donations
Donation protected
Hello everybody! We are Gianna Percy and JT Maestri and we are raising money and other donations to donate to Old Adobe Elementary School. The donations that we will be accepting/looking for are items such as; PPE (masks, face shields, cleaning/disinfecting supplies, etc), classroom supplies, and art supplies. These items we feel are a necessity to make the process of going back to school easier for students, parents, and staff. We are taking forms of donations by donation drop offs which will be planned to be at Casa Grande High School (details will be posted soon) for physical donations and the GoFundMe for virtual donations. Everything that we receive from our donations will go straight to Old Adobe Elementary School.
During the process of planning what to do for a Senior Project, we really wanted to do something that would directly impact our community. We decided to donate to Old Adobe because Gianna Percy is an Alumni from the school and currently has two little sisters that attend. Gianna has seen how distance learning has impacted their abilities to feel motivated and learn even though they are not in the classroom setting. If we exceed our expected donation amount, we will donate to Penngrove Elementary School, which is where JT Maestri went to school.
We know how difficult the going back to school process is in general, especially considering the circumstances of last year make it that much more difficult. This being said, by raising money in donations for the schools allows for a smooth and less problematic transition back to school. We have fought so hard in the past year about getting students back in the classroom, now we want them to have fun and enjoy learning.
Through this experience, we hope to connect with our community and those who work and go to Old Adobe. Gianna attended Old Adobe when she was in elementary school, so this is my way of giving back to them and to thank them for being a part of who she is today. We hope to learn more about starting fundraisers and other sort of ways to give back to our community.
We will know we made a difference because Gianna has seen the struggle of learning for her sisters along with not being able to see their friends, not having that social interaction, and we would imagine that their friends are feeling the same way. Also, we feel like many parents will also be grateful that their children are able to go back to school safely, and it would hopefully feel like a load of stress taken off their shoulders. Distance learning is hard on everyone, especially students, so by doing our part in helping get them able to go back, we can say that somehow we made a difference for families in our community. Every little bit helps and counts so being a part of something important like this, would be rewarding. It will hopefully help push the idea of going back to school if they have all the resources they need allowing everyone in the environment to feel safe and be protected. By raising money, it will give the school budget a boost to spend on whatever they need in the time being because it is already low. This will overall benefit the teachers, students, parents, and other staff. All kids want to do is go back to school, have that social interaction, and be able to learn in a classroom again. We take for granted what we have and don't realize how good we have it until something like this happens and I guarantee no one thought they would miss school.
If you chose take the time to look through our fundraiser and and donate, we really appreciate it, Thanks you!
