Angela lived an active, productive, joyful life before being struck with health issues many of us can’t imagine. Her strength and will to keep on and her kind soul are inspiring. Her friends and prayer warriors are asking for your help to support Angela onto a road to healing.
Starting back a few years ago, Angela’s health deteriorated so badly that she was forced to take a medical leave of absence for several months. Early symptoms were extreme fatigue, weakness, horrible GI swelling/pain. As it progressed, she became very dizzy, easily confused, overwhelmed, made mistakes at work, memory/cognition were poor, even had problems finding her way home from work. She saw countless physicians and had two surgeries trying to uncover the issue. Initially she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia/POTS (a neurologic condition that causes the nervous system to have issues managing blood pressure, pulse, respiration, perspiration, basically anything that should be an automatic). It was thought that the Lyme Disease brought on all these other conditions.
Angela has tried to go back to work multiple times, but was pulled out each time because it severely worsened her condition and made activities of daily living impossible. She is now unable to work and often unable to leave her home for long.
Most recently, she was diagnosed with Biotoxin Illness and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) by an internist specializing in environmental health. He ran a variety of tests including labs and genetic testing. She tested in the 2% of the population whose immune system is unable to flag and remove any form of biotoxin, mold being the biggest one. For someone like Angela, mold is essentially poison. Lyme Disease also secretes a biotoxin, so between mold and Lyme, that was a recipe for disaster.
Her current apartment tested positive for mold so she’s been instructed to move and bring very little with her to avoid cross-contaminating (bringing mold/mycotoxins from one environment to another). This means getting rid of nearly everything she owns.
She deals with a lot of symptoms at any given time. Horrible fatigue and exhaustion, poor stamina, weakness, dizziness and vertigo, disequalibrium, pain, and brain fog. She is easily neurologically overloaded and sensitive to anything from movement, colors, sound, light, even information. Cognitive issues such as confusion, memory loss, inability to focus/concentrate or make decisions, easily disoriented. Burning/itchy skin, rashes, hives. Blurred vision, bloodshot painful eyes, pressure behind eyes. Neurologic issues such as tremors, spasms, shaking or "stupor-type" episodes. She experiences sleep issues, anxiety/depression.
These are just some of the needs Angela faces to just simply get to the point of beginning to try to live safely and heal.
-Testing the new environment
-New apartment/moving expense
-Replace all belongings, furniture, electronics, incidentals
-Remediate car for mold spores
-Purchase special air purifier
-Purchase hygrometer and dehumidifier
-Treatments and medication to treat condition, many of which are not covered by insurance
As you can imagine, this diagnosis has been devastating for Angela, but she's standing firm in her faith and trusting God for the future. She thanks you from the bottom of her heart for your prayers and generosity in any amount during this difficult time. They mean the world to her.
