The Ghostship Memorial Restoration Project 2021. The Ghostship was built and installed off Emeryville in 2017 by local artist Chris Edwards as a memorial to all the people who lost their lives in the Ghostship Fire in Oakland. Working mostly alone Chris built the original and second Ghostships in his driveway and launched them with help from community members. Sadly, Chris passed away in 2017 so we are now maintaining this important East Bay art installation as a community. The Ghostship was recently rescued after washing ashore and will now be restored and relaunched. During restoration, we also plan to improve the anchoring and ballast so that it will last even longer this time. Any donations will go towards cost of materials, all labor is being volunteered. Any donations in excess of the actual costs will be donated to a local arts organization or Ghostship victims fund, we'll add details on that asap, after communicating with Chris's community and family. Fund details: Donations are being deposited by GoFundMe into the bank account of Greg Milano. I live in the Berkeley Marina, assisted Chris with the launch of Ghostship 2, and am well known to the people involved in this project. Please contact us if you have any interest in getting involved.
