I am Eleonora Fae,  a New York City dance artist. I am currently raising money to give the Maltese community a voice within the NYC performing arts scene.
The Ghonnella project is  set to jumpstart a series of collaborations involving artists of various backgrounds whose work will gravitate towards notions taken from Maltese culture.

One of the  projects feeding from this initiative is a performance-based  project called ‘DIK’. A piece set on 14 male identifying  dancers in ghonellas.  D.I.K is a Maltese  word used specifically to identify feminine objects. This project relates to  the various themes of conflict with notions taken from the Roman Catholic stages of the cross. The thoughts that inform the DIK project, are translated into movement
phrases , set to a score to help convey the conflicts of man against society, self, fate and nature . This piece essentially  does not only identify who I am as an artist at this point in time but also questions the point of catholicism amidst today’s political climate and humanitarian rights.

Much love,

Eleonora Fae.
