Help Save Mannie - No One Should Die From A Kidney Stone!

Donation protected
This is Mannie. He is 5 years old and is the best cat anyone could ever ask for. Up until recently, he was very active, always hanging out with his brother or running around the house. He can even do some tricks, including sit, shake, and jump!

In mid-March, Mannie started eating less and vomiting. On March 19th, Mannie was admitted to the hospital at Penn Vet. His kidney values and electrolytes were dangerously high. He had a kidney stone that stopped him from urinating and caused kidney injury. His hospital stay has included multiple days in the intensive care unit and surgery to remove the obstruction.

After his surgery on March 20th, Mannie showed significant improvement. He was moving around and even climbed up into our laps when we came to visit. His kidney and electrolyte values were improving - we were overjoyed! After a few days, his numbers started to increase and he became less active. On March 25th, he stopped urinating, making his doctors very worried. They called us urgently to say he needed another surgery to make sure that he could urinate.

Since his second surgery, Mannie has shown significant improvement in his kidney values and his level of activity. However, the second obstruction backed up some fluid into his lungs, which the doctors are carefully trying to remove while maintaining his kidney health. We visit him in the hospital every single day and will continue to post updates about his care here.

Your donations will help us to cover the hospital bills, which have amounted to more than we and our immediate support system can quickly collect.

A donation of $15 covers Mannie's pain medications for a day.

A donation of $35 covers a bag of IV fluids he receives in the ICU.

A donation of $50 covers half of Mannie's daily electrolyte blood test.

A donation of $65 covers Mannie's antibiotics for a day.

A donation of $95 covers Mannie's initial admission fee for the hospital.

A donation of $120 covers the daily blood tests run to check Mannie's kidney function.

A donation of $250 covers the catheter needed to unblock Mannie's urine.

A donation of $355 covers Mannie's kidney and bladder ultrasound scan.

A donation of $655 covers a day in the intensive care unit.

We appreciate any and all support. We believe that no living being should die from a kidney stone. Donations can be made through GoFundMe or through venmo @Ana_Acevedo.
