I am running this donation page to help cover the cost of the funeral of my brother-in-law and best friend Mr. Gustave Thiko, who passed away on 28 April 2020 leaving behind her devoted wife and four children. Gustave was a dynamic, loving, and caring family man.
In 2014, he had a severe stroke which ultimately left him paralyzed on one side and speech impaired. He made a significant progress after nine months of the rehabilitation period. He strived to take control of his life again as he got himself moving, walking around, and even helping with household chores. His resilience and determination got him gradually on the road to recovery as he had gradually become independent.
However, on 7th October 2019 in the morning, he had a tragic accident. A lorry reversed and hit him in front of his house, as he returned from his daily rehabilitation session at his local gym, which is two minutes away from his house.
The reckless lorry driver robbed him of the progress he strived to make. Gustave was taken to hospital where he had two major operations after which he became unconscious throughout his admission till 28th April, when he gave his last breath. This second blow has left his wife and children devastated and inconsolable.
Gustave’s long illness made the family lose two-income as the wife abandoned her fulltime job to take on the responsibility of caring for him, which has depleted any savings they had made.
To help alleviate the financial burden of the family, please consider donating if you can, as any amount will truly help. I need to raise £3000.00 to help to cover part of the funeral arrangement.
