My name is Seidu Ajanako, and I am a beach volleyball coach from Ghana, West Africa. Since 2011, I have had the honor of coaching the Ghana National Men's Beach Volleyball team. In 2002, I was awarded a volleyball scholarship, allowing me to pursue my studies and athletic career in the United States at Park University and California Baptist University. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and achieved significant success in volleyball, winning four NAIA national titles with both universities. After graduation, I competed on the professional beach volleyball tour, primarily on the East and West Coasts of the United States.
Throughout my competitive years, I nurtured a deep passion for sharing my skills with young athletes. This dream became a reality when the Ghana Volleyball Federation invited me to help develop the sport in Ghana. Without hesitation, I returned to Ghana in 2011 to start the beach volleyball program. In the same year, we won a bronze medal at the African Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
Our program has since achieved notable successes, including qualifications for the Youth Olympics and FIVB World Championships in Holland, China, and Argentina. The beach volleyball initiative has made a significant impact on the community, with several players receiving scholarships to study in the US and others securing employment with local security services such as the Police, Fire Service, Immigration, Army, and Prison Service.
As we approach the Olympic season in Paris, we face qualification matches in Tangier, Morocco, from June 18th to 24th. Unfortunately, we are experiencing severe financial difficulties, struggling to afford essential supplies such as water, food, and transportation for our players. The economic situation in Ghana has led to soaring commodity prices, making our preparation even more challenging.
Our federation does not receive government funding, which greatly hampers our ability to train effectively. We are appealing for financial support to help us achieve our goal of qualifying for the Olympics. Any assistance you can provide would be immensely appreciated, and we would be deeply grateful for your support in our endeavor.
Thank you for your generosity, and may your kindness be abundantly rewarded.
