Tammy is our very best friend. She has been a blessing in our lives since we first met her. She is a mother of two fantastic boys, a wife to Murray, and one of the kindest people I have ever known.
Over the past couple of years she has been struggling with some unknown illness which have just recently been diagnosed as Mycoplasma, Bartonella, and Epstein-Barr Virus. These are co-infections of Lyme Disease, and there are signs of Lyme in the blood work as well. Chronic immune issues are complicating her body’s ability to fight the infections.
She suffers daily from pain that varies from uncomfortable to debilitating, with little to no relief. It has caused a number of hospital stays and time away from work, sometimes for weeks at a time. It is an invisible illness. The pain medications she has been prescribed only mask the symptoms and further complicate the GI issues that are already present, making things worse.
She has sought out alternative treatment options that show promise of fighting the infections and viruses, and reversing the damage they have caused. The treatments currently cost about $800 a month and are not covered by any insurance. The doctors expect to see improvements in the first year, with treatment ongoing after that. They simply can’t afford to cover the costs on their own, especially at times when she is hospitalized or can’t go to work. Her husband was working away from home this winter to try and bring in extra money, but had to leave and fly home recently when Tammy got really ill.
Tammy is lucky enough to have a network of a few close friends, and a great church family for prayer and spiritual support. But the financial burden her, her husband, and her children are facing in order to get her the help she needs, are insurmountable right now. We give her all we can in help, support, and love.
