In September of 2013 I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. In the course of the diagnoses they found that the cancer had metastasized into my bones. The cancer in my spine took priority over my prostate so they opted to use the strongest treatment, radiation, on my vertabrae while treating the prostate with injections and oral medicines. The injections are ongoing. The follow up mri's on my bones show that the initial radiation treatment area responded well, however the cancer has spread to other areas, most importantly my lumbar spine region, my ilium and my left humerus (arm). I have a break in my left arm and it was radiated just like my spine was, unfortunately, while the cancer aspect improved the break got larger. I now have to have another operation inserting bone concrete into my shoulder so that the doctor will have something solid to fix the break. I was able to work through the first treatments, but all of my doctors now agree I am unable to work any longer, and am permanently disabled. They are discussing new treatments to slow down the further spreading of the cancer. As I am going on social security disability I cannot remain in my current residence and will also have to move into something more affordable in the near future. Thank you for any consideration of my situation, any help will be greatly appreciated.
