Financial Support
My name is Sarah. I am a 23 year old nursing student, and have worked in the aged care industry for the past three years.
When I was three a Doctor discovered that I had a heart murmur. He determined that it was insignificant
and that it would be something I would out grow. At 17 I was diagnosed with hypertension, many doctors could not find the cause and concluded it was something I would have to manage with medication forever.
Recently my partner and I were over the moon to discover that we were expecting. Due to my blood pressure my pregnancy was categorised as high risk.
Unfortunately we had a missed-miscarriage. Following the procedure I developed an infection in my uterus and become very unwell.
When I fell pregnant I started seeing a new Doctor. Fortunately she was not satisfied that a fit and healthy 22 year old could have such significantly high blood pressure and sent me for more tests.
It was discovered that I had an adult congenital heart disorder, called coarctation of the aorta. This needed to be surgically repaired. A fortnight ago I underwent successful open heart surgery, and am at home recovering.
Due to the miscarriage, the infection and my medical condition, I have been off work, and will be for a few more months.
My partner is working hard to financially and emotionally support us both, though it is taking a toll.
If possible, we would be grateful to raise enough to cover the bills that are coming in.
I find it uncomfortable to ask for money, as everyone has their struggles, but it would mean a lot to my partner and I to relieve some of the financial stress until I am able to return to work and uni.
Thank you for your time .
