By God's grace, the work of bringing the Orthodox faith into the Canadian Federal prison system continues to bear fruit. In January, a lifer inmate was baptized into the Orthodox Church and took the name of Moses (after St. Moses the Ethiopian ).
Since then, other inmates have started to inquire into the Orthodox faith, and two have been received as catechumens. An inquirers' class is being held weekly, led by a local volunteer and seminarian.
Archbishop IRENEE of Ottawa and All Canada (OCA) has blessed the establishment of Holy Apostle Silas Orthodox Prison Chapel, with Divine Liturgy to be served monthly.
The members of St. Silas need your help to purchase Orthodox books, icons, incense, and education materials, including the cost of distance education courses in Orthodox theology to enrich their knowledge of the faith.
On behalf of the men I serve, we thank you for even the smallest donation to help those in prison grow in their newly-discovered Orthodox faith. Above all, we are grateful for your continued prayers!
