IsraelTrip w/Western Seminary

Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings!  As you can imagine, my life is full of so much joy and laughter as Elizabeth and I try to keep up with Ada and Libby who are now nineteen months old.  Each day is full of new discoveries like drawers to be emptied and things to climb on. Our girls are the best gift that God has ever given us.  We heard someone say one time, “the days are long and the years are short” and boy, do I understand this better than ever!

As many of you know, I have been in seminary since January 2013 pursuing my Masters of Divinity through Western Seminary in Portland, OR.   My time in seminary has been spiritually refreshing as well as academically and theologically enriching.  Elizabeth has been my biggest cheerleader as I better equip myself for future ministry opportunities and grow deeper in my relationship with Jesus.  As for work, youth ministry continues to be a passion of mine.  It’s hard to imagine doing anything else.  At the same time, I look forward to the opportunity of being a senior pastor one day.

This summer promises to be an eventful one for the Bricknell’s. Elizabeth will be in Uganda for 10 days in June visiting Noonday Collection’s artisan partners there. She’s been dreaming about this opportunity for three years and has worked hard to make it a reality.

Upon hearing about the opportunity to go to Israel for my degree, God placed a vision and passion to one-day study there and to lead groups to Israel myself someday.  Teaching God’s Word and taking people on trips as a means of discipleship are two things I have come to love in my time of ministry.  My trip to Israel this summer (May 15-June 5) will enhance my teaching capacity and will prepare me to take others along in the future.

I will be studying at Jerusalem University College.  We will spend time Jerusalem, the Wilderness, at the Dead Sea, Mt. Carmel, and upper and lower Galilee plus much more.  I can’t believe I’ll be walking where Jesus walked!

The three-week trip costs $5,200, which covers all my expenses for the entire trip and gives me four credits toward my degree.  God has already provided $3,600 through a scholarship and Elizabeth’s Noonday income.  Only $1,600 left!  I would feel so blessed if you would pray for me or make a donation to my trip.

I am also hoping for monthly financial supporters to help me finish my degree.  If you’d like to continue to support me while in seminary, I would greatly appreciate that, too!  Seminary costs $550 per credit.  I am pleased to be two-thirds of the way done and only have 31 credits left out of 90 (can you hear Elizabeth cheering?).  So far, I am debt free and pray that I can continue to be.

If you are able to support me financially, please donate online or mail any financial gifts to my home address (2769 Maple St. Longview, WA 98632) by Tuesday, March 15.  Monthly tuitions gifts can be sent anytime.  Anything will be much appreciated.

Please pray with me and my family as I set out on this exciting learning opportunity.  It will certainly be challenging to leave my family and then have Elizabeth leave the country upon my return, but we are trusting God to sustain us and lead us.

Thank you for your friendship and generosity,

Paul
