On December 27th, 2025, at the age of 81, our family suddenly lost the strongest man, husband, and father we were ever blessed enough to get to share our lives with. William Richardson Otis VI, most commonly and lovingly referred to as "Dick", left this world at peace and for a better place after fighting numerous health battles both fearlessly and relentlessly for years prior.
Born November 3, 1944, in Fresno, CA, he led the most incredible life from start to finish. From McLane High School to the US Air Force, to marrying the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Jane, to adopting his daughter Tiffany from Seoul, Korea in '83, he was constantly a busy career and family man. Taking the family to see different parts of the country each summer in their motorhome, attending countless dance competitions for his daughter and commendation award dinners for his wife, he was always there. He was our "Super Man." All those who ever had the pleasure to meet him and be in his life know just how incredibly fierce, loving, and selfless he was. Along with being a genuinely empathetic listener who always gave the best advice, he was also the man who could make anyone laugh and forget their worries at the drop of a dime. As a retired Air Force Vietnam Veteran, he brought back all the incredible life lessons which helped shape him into the amazing husband and father he was. He is most immediately survived by his wife, Jane Otis, daughter, Tiffany Otis, fur-daughter Furgie Otis, and his older sister Marcia Norwood.
Although we miss him beyond words and keep waiting for the next day to hurt a little less than the one before, we cling to the bounty of wonderful memories we've shared, and it helps to slightly fill the void in our tremendous loss. We hope you are all able to do the same.
Due to the ages, distances, and health conditions of some of his best and closest friends, we will not be having a graveside service, but a more intimate memorial with the time and date TBD shortly. In lieu of flowers, we encourage those whose lives he has touched to please make donations to support his legacy. Thank you to everyone who has sent their thoughts and prayers our way; we have genuinely felt them.
