My 19 year old stepson was taken into emergency surgery last Tuesday evening to remove a very large tumor that was crushing his spine and had paralyzed him from the waist down. The tumor has cancer cells but we still don't have the report back from the mayo clinic telling us what kind of cancer cells it is. Thankfully we found out yesterday the cancer had not spread and he is a very lucky kiddo! Brendan will have to learn to walk again as he had not regained 100% feeling back in his legs and may not. He is a college student at VU and works 15-20 hours a week at KFC. Unfortunately due to his very minute income insurance dropped him and as of now none of his medical bills have been covered. His mother has applied for disability medicaid and I have added him to my ins but we still aren't sure what will and will not be covered. I am trying to help Brendan with not only bills but with things he will need once he is able to be released. Brendan is a very humble private kid. Hates being the center of attention so I'm trying to do this in the most discreet tactful way that I can. Any help would be appreciated and I thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.

UPDATE
A few days After I posted my first description we got the awful news that things weren't nearly as positive as we had thought. Brendan has Ewing Sarcoma. Its a rare aggressive cancer that affects kids under 20. He will go thru 17 rounds of intense chemo and then have radiation to the spot they removed the tumor from. He is currently back in the hospital with an infection to his incision sight and it just seems we keep getting hit with one blow after another. Insurance still hasn't been approved so the bills he will be facing are unspeakable. Please pass his story on and ask everyone to pray. If you would like to donate its super easy to do it through this site. Thanks again. The Purdue/Hornback families <3
