On January 21st 2016, a GREAT and inspirational man, my father Thomas E. Schwab, passed away at the early age of 65. He battled an "extremely aggressive stage 4 terminal cancer" that gave him little time left after being diagnosed. Dad was a man that wore many different hats in his lifetime, for many different people. He ALWAYS put the needs of others, before the needs of himself, even during his final days here with us. His love for baseball and his community, fueled his passion to make every child's knothole experience to be a rememberable one.
With the help and support from NR Knothole baseball President Jamey Strunk, and the New Richmond Knothole Assoc., a Memorial Fund has been established in my father's name.
The memorial fund will provide for:
1) A large plaque that will have a 3D image of my father's face, words of remembrance, and statistical years of service in the New Richmond Knothole Assoc. The plaque will be enshrined at the ballpark where he served as President for 13 years, and dedicated countless hours to the development of youth baseball.
2) Every 2016 NR Knothole hat will bear a "customized insignia" on them to honor the memory of my father who gave his time, love, and support over the many years with the organization. This fund will provide for the "customized insignia" to be added to all of the hats.
3) Lastly, any funds in surplus of the goal for this memorial fund, will be used to help fund the "New Richmond Knothole Opening Day Parade and Tom Schwab Memorial Plaque Dedication Ceremony" in the beginning of April.
