Gezabel and Tom

Hello!

I'm an ordinary person, no different than most. I've never done a "Go Fund Me" campaign before.

I use the app "Nextdoor" and recently, a gentleman by the name of Tom in my area posted a question. He asked if anyone knew where he might recycle cans and bottles for cash. He mentioned that times were hard and every bit he could make counts. One person answered him, but I thought to myself, collecting bottles and cans and taking them all the way to the recycling center he was directed to would cost nearly as much as he'd collect. Most ancillary recycling locations are closed down due to COVID-19.  So, I wrote him back and asked him if he'd share his mailing address and that I'd like to pass something on to him.

Tom sent me his address with thanks. I sent him $100 in cash in an envelope - no return address - with the hope that it could make his life just little better.

Tonight, I got a note from Tom's wife, Gezabel:

"Hello Kelly I want to thank you for what you just have done, I received an envelope with your name and honestly I don't think I have enough words to describe my feelings right now, because I never thought people like you still exist. These are hard times for everybody and I bet for you too. But here you are doing something for my family, and I want to pay back what you just did, whenever you need help on something let me know I work as a housekeeper but because I am 36 weeks pregnant right now I am not working, my husband is so thankful too and he said the same thing he maybe yard work or something he can do for you we will do it, my God bless your beautiful and loving heart and your family ."

The truth is, I and my family are just fine. But, helping people in need - just because you can - brings wonderful gratitude and holiday warmth that is priceless.

Gezabel is, as you've read, 36 months pregnant, and she can't work her usual housecleaning job. She shouldn't be working anyway at this late stage. And Tom shouldn't be out collecting cans and bottles for money.

I'd like to see them enjoy the holiday season and bring their child into the world healthy and happy.

What about you? Let's, together, give this family a gift they won't forget!
